Resident Doctors of Canada is seeking a Narrative Coach & Writer for the second edition of our national resident storytelling project.
This role will support resident doctors in shaping authentic, emotionally honest written narratives that remain true to each storyteller’s own voice. The work involves trauma-informed narrative interviewing, thoughtful story development, collaborative revision, and careful attention to confidentiality, privacy, and ethical storytelling.
We are looking for an experienced narrative nonfiction writer, interviewer, journalist, oral historian, narrative medicine practitioner, qualitative researcher, or similar professional with strong judgment, cultural humility, and the ability to shape stories with care and restraint.
The project is expected to begin in early June 2026 and continue through March 2027. Compensation will be negotiated with the selected candidate on a per-story basis.
To express interest, please email the following to stories@residentdoctors.ca:
- A short biography outlining relevant interviewing and writing experience;
- 1–2 narrative nonfiction writing samples; and
- A brief statement describing your approach to trauma-informed, equitable storytelling.
