Provincial Housestaff Organization (PHOs)

Resident Doctors of Canada has been instrumental in leading numerous efforts across the country to improve postgraduate medical education. During my tenure, I have joined RDoC in fiercely resisting unilateral attempts to silence learner input in the match process. Suffice it to say, the organization has consistently supported Resident Doctors of BC, both in times of negotiation and otherwise. On behalf of BC residents, I share the sentiment that we are truly better together, and I express my utmost gratitude to RDoC for their ongoing efforts to enhance the lives of residents nationwide.

RDoS is grateful for the advocacy efforts of RDoC for resident interests at the national level. We are excited to continue working with RDoC on collective resident advocacy and empowerment.

I’ve had the privilege of working closely with RDoC over the past several years, and their unwavering commitment to enhancing resident wellness and training conditions across Canada is truly inspiring. RDoC’s dedication to advocacy and resident support is exceptional, striving to create a better future for all residents—one where every voice is valued and supported.

As a small to medium-sized PHO, the ability to have our voices heard on the national level through RDoC’s advocacy is extremely helpful. Having the insight and abilities of RDoC’s professional team along with the national PHO network to help with initiatives like accreditations and collective agreement negotiations makes those processes flow much more smoothly and successfully.

As the co-president of PARNL, a past director of RDoC’s board and current treasuer, I am immensely grateful for what RDoC offers both our PHO and for providing a national voice for us. Our membership at RDoC provided us with the resources and access to expertise to help us revisit our own strategic plan at PARNL. When PHOs support each other we are stronger together. Additionally, we know that RDoC has our back regarding issues like credential creep and lengthening of training. RDoC’s clear, evidence-based rationale for advocacy holds institutions accountable for ensuring excellence in the design of medical training programs.
