Voting in the 2021 Federal Election

The federal election is taking place on Monday, September 20, 2021. Resident doctors make up a significant portion of the number of eligible voters in Canada, and we have a unique perspective on the nation’s healthcare needs.

By law, all eligible voters are entitled to three consecutive hours to vote in a federal election. Your employer must permit you to arrive late, to leave early, or to take time during your workday to vote if your hours of work do not allow for three consecutive hours while the polls are open. Click here for more information on time off for voting.

If you aren’t voting on election day, there are other ways to vote safely before September 20 – at advance polls, by mail, or at any Elections Canada office across Canada. Click here to review the different ways to vote.
