Resident Awareness Week 2020 (February 10 – 14, 2020) is a nationwide celebration of the important work done by resident physicians in Canadian health systems and patient care. Resident Doctors of Canada (RDoC) looks forward to once again spending this week acknowledging and promoting the achievements of residents across the country.
Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing excerpts of “Inside the Lives of Resident Doctors,” an upcoming anthology of stories, memoirs, poems and artwork by Canadian residents. These quotes explore the highs, lows, challenges, rewards, and surprises of life during residency. We cannot wait to launch this anthology later in the spring – until then, these excerpts are a great sneak peek. We will also be sharing an updated version of our Ten Fast Facts about Resident Doctors in Canada infographic, presenting relevant information about who residents are and what we do.
We’ll be sharing these resources all week on our website, Facebook page, and Twitter. We’ll also be sharing awareness-related material from our stakeholders, including our provincial partners. Be sure to follow the hashtag #residentawareness.
RDoC represents over 10,000 resident doctors across Canada. Established in 1972, we are a not-for-profit organization providing a unified, national voice for our membership. RDoC collaborates with other national health organizations to foster excellence in resident physician training, physician wellness, and patient care.
In the words of one of our anthology contributors, “we are the future of medicine in Canada.” On behalf of the 2019-2020 RDoC Board of Directors, I hope you have an excellent Resident Awareness Week.
