PRACTICE MANAGEMENT

To ensure seamless transitions from training to practice, it is important that all residents receive standardized practice management (PM) training in the non-clinical (i.e., legal, administrative and financial) skills necessary for physicians to practice within their specialties.

RDoC’s Role

RDoC has taken a leadership role in practice management. We are examining and evaluating current practices with the goal of advancing the standardization of a PM curriculum across all Canadian residency programs.

CMA’s Practice Management Curriculum

Endorsed by RDoC, the CMA’s Practice Management Curriculum (PMC) helps medical residents develop the skills they need to transition into practice with confidence. This series of seminars, tailored to family practice and specialty residents, covers topics like insurance, finances, billing principles, contracts, negotiations and more. All sessions are developed and hosted in partnership with the specified medical schools.
